WEST BENGAL

West Bengal can well be termed as the epitome of India, admired with dense forests, hill stations, pristine beaches, historical sites as well as religious locations. However, there is no desert, but it can be well compensated with the sprawling tea estates along the Himalayan slope in the North of West Bengal. The majestic hill stations of Darjeeling, Kurseong, Mirik and Kalimpong offer the ultimate serenity. The pristine beaches of Digha, Tajpur, Shankarpur, Bakkhali and Mandarmoni attract hordes of tourists each year. The state is admired with rich woodlands in both its northern and southern sides, which are enriched exquisite flora and fauna. To savor the wilderness of the state, bulk of tourists visit the large mangrove forests of Sunderbans in the Southern Bengal, which is also the refuge of Royal Bengal Tiger. ORISSA

Orissa is the seat of rich culture and heritage and enriched with a number of exotic tourist destinations. The place is the home of several world famous monuments, like the sun temple in the Konark city, dedicated to Surya, the Sun God. The Konark beach and the gorgeous beaches of Gopalpur and Chandipur are also a fascinating haunts for the beachcombers. The center of attraction of Orissa is Puri, primarily known for its gorgeous beach and the renowned Jagannath temple. Those who want to explore further can highly visit the Dhauli Hill, one of the major Buddhist pilgrim destination in India and also the Udaigiri and Khandagiri Caves. Beside the Jagannath temple, the Lingaraj temple and the Mukteshwar temple are also worth a visit. Touring of Orissa will remain incomplete without a visit to the pristine lake of Chilka, the largest ox-bow lake across Asia, spanning an area of 1,100 sq km.
